The Queensland Suns are Queensland's premier men's and mixed netball representative association, providing pathways for athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers to compete at the highest level. ABOUT THE ROLE
The Queensland Suns is seeking a High Performance Director to design and lead the future of our program. This is the most important appointment in our Association.
The High Performance Director will oversee the entire Queensland Suns pathway and performance environment across six state representative teams competing at National Championships. The role will shape how we train, how we play, how we coach, how we develop athletes, and the culture and standards that underpin our program.
The successful candidate will work across all levels of the pathway, helping develop the next generation of state and Australian representative players while building one of the country's leading men's and mixed netball programs. The role will also help drive high-performance opportunities and partnerships, including representative fixtures against Suncorp Super Netball and Sapphire Series programs.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in delivering the Queensland Suns Strategic Plan and our vision of becoming Australia's leading men's and mixed netball program. The High Performance Director will report directly to the Queensland Suns Board through the President and provide regular updates on program performance, athlete development, strategic initiatives and pathway outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement the Queensland Suns High Performance Strategy and athlete pathway framework.

Oversee the performance environment across all Queensland Suns representative programs, ensuring consistency in standards, culture, athlete development and preparation.

Lead the identification, recruitment and development of athletes, coaches and support staff.

Establish and monitor performance benchmarks, selection philosophies and athlete development plans.

Mentor and support coaching staff to drive continual improvement across all teams.

Work closely with the Board, coaches, managers and support personnel to ensure alignment with the Association's Strategic Plan.

Identify and pursue opportunities to strengthen the Queensland Suns program through partnerships, representative fixtures, camps, education initiatives and high-performance collaborations.

Provide leadership and oversight of Nationals preparation, athlete wellbeing and program evaluation.

Contribute to the long-term sustainability and growth of men's and mixed netball pathways in Queensland.
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for an exceptional leader with experience in elite sport, coaching, talent development, or high-performance systems. More importantly, we are seeking someone who can establish a clear vision, create an environment of excellence, and set the benchmark for what a state sporting program can achieve.
You will ideally possess:

Experience within elite sport, talent development, coaching or high-performance environments.

Demonstrated ability to lead people, programs and culture.

Strong strategic planning and stakeholder management skills.

A passion for athlete development and creating high-performance environments.

Experience within netball is highly regarded but not essential.
This is a paid position. As a not-for-profit organisation, remuneration will not be comparable to full-time professional sporting programs; however, the role offers a unique opportunity to leave a lasting legacy, shape an entire state pathway, and play a pivotal role in the continued growth of men's and mixed netball in Australia.
The role will commence over the coming month and initially focus on helping shape the Queensland Suns High Performance Program, including assisting with the coaching appointment process and establishing the frameworks, standards and culture that will underpin the program.
During the remainder of 2026, the successful applicant will work with the Association and coaching staff to align training methodologies, performance expectations, player development pathways and team culture across the program’s six national representative teams.
Formal team preparation will commence in late January 2027 and run through to the National Championships over Easter. Teams typically train on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.
The level of hands-on involvement is flexible and will be tailored to the successful applicant’s availability and expertise. Our priority is ensuring the right high-performance systems, culture, coaching support and selection processes are in place to give our athletes and coaches the best opportunity for success.
