State of Origin - 2026

The 2026 State of Origin Series delivered another huge weekend of elite men’s and mixed netball, with Queensland and New South Wales going head-to-head across the Men’s, Mixed and Futures divisions.

NSW ultimately retained the State of Origin Shield, taking the series 6 games to 2, with one draw.

There was plenty for Queensland to celebrate, with our Futures side claiming their division undefeated, recording two wins and a draw across the weekend. NSW took the honours in both the Open Men’s and Open Mixed divisions, completing 3–0 series wins.

Importantly, the weekend also provided valuable opportunities for some of our emerging and fringe Open Men’s athletes to experience State of Origin netball, with Miller Page, Lachlan Brandon, Jayden Sampson and James Battersby all taking the court.

More than 3,400 streams

For those who couldn’t be there in person, the action was streamed live across the weekend - recording 3,474 streams and counting.

While we experienced a few equipment glitches along the way, the overall response to the coverage was incredibly positive and represents another exciting step forward in making our game more accessible to supporters wherever they are.

A huge thank you to Timmy O’Rourke, who provided commentary across every game of the weekend, Davin Hunt, who joined the commentary team for four games on Saturday, and Matthew Fredericksen for his invaluable assistance with both the streaming and commentary.

Thank you also to everyone who attended, tuned in, volunteered, officiated, played, coached and supported across the weekend.

The Shield may be south of the border, but there is plenty for Queensland to build on.
