The Queensland Suns’ 2026 Nationals campaign in Perth has delivered a strong reward for effort, with a number of Suns athletes earning invitations to upcoming Australian selection camps.
Following a competitive week against the country’s best, the selections are a clear reflection of the talent, resilience and potential within the Suns program. While results on the court are only one part of the story, the recognition at a national level reinforces the strength of the Suns pathway and the quality of athletes coming through the system.
Suns Athletes Earn National Recognition
The following Queensland Suns athletes have been invited to attend upcoming Australian selection camps:
Jai Kelly
Lachlan Brandon
Kyle McCann
Miller Page
Maxwell Carson
Brock Starkey
Daniel Statton
Each athlete has demonstrated consistency, work ethic and the ability to perform under pressure throughout the Nationals campaign. Their selection is a testament to both individual commitment and the collective standards being built across the Suns program.
Strength of the Suns Pathway
These opportunities highlight the continued growth of the Queensland Suns and the effectiveness of the high-performance environment being developed. Competing at Nationals provides a critical platform for athletes to test themselves, and this year’s campaign showed that Suns players are more than capable of matching it with the best in the country.
The recognition of multiple athletes across age groups and divisions reinforces the depth of talent within the program and the clear progression pathways available for players aspiring to reach the next level.
Setback for Spencer
Ella Spencer was also identified for selection following her outstanding performance in Perth, however was unfortunately unable to accept her invitation after rupturing her ACL during the tournament.
Ella’s determination and resilience throughout Nationals did not go unnoticed, and she has the full support of the Suns community as she begins her recovery. We look forward to seeing her back on court in the future.
Building for What’s Next
While the 2026 Nationals campaign presented its challenges, the outcomes off the court provide strong confidence in the direction of the program. These selections are an important step forward and a reminder of what this group is capable of achieving.
The Queensland Suns remain committed to building a high-performance environment that develops athletes, supports their progression, and continues to contribute to the future of men’s and mixed netball in Australia.
